Rolling Stone

McHenry Hohnen Rolling is comprised of the best parcels of fruit from the biodynamic Hazel's Vineyard, characterized by Southern Ocean breezes and plenty of Margaret River sunshine.

Rolling Stone is a Bordeaux style blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec, Merlot and Petit Verdot. Each variety ferments separately in open stone fermenters with wild yeasts.

Some batches are left on skins for several weeks post ferment to lend savouriness and structure to the blend. Others are pressed earlier for freshness and aromatic lift. Maturation is in a selection of fine French oak barrels.

Only after 18 months of maturation are the individual varieties blended. The final wine is bottled unfined and unfiltered, and released in very limited quantities.

Deep purple crimson, McHenry Hohnen Rolling Stone has intense dark fruit flavours, sweet spice and firm, gravelly tannins providing length. Cellaring potential is 15 years.
